Just HOW nasty is that grocery cart?

When my kids were babies it seemed the first thing they did when I put them in the grocery store cart was to lean down and try to suck on (or eat) the cart handle.  I'd always say, "That is dirty!  Not in your mouth!!"  I never really thought about what was being transferred to MY hands as I pushed that cart around.

SO i started using those little wipes that are at the front of the stores.  But MANY MANY times I'd find it completely empty OR someone else had left it open and I'd have to waste 10 or more just to find one slightly damp.  THEN I found a new product that is being tested in just a FEW Harris Teeters (in Charlotte only I believe).  They are Kleen Grip steri strips.

So what is so cool about these?  First, according to their website  "The Steri-Strip® consists of 11 separate tear off coupons that are instantly redeemable at checkout. The Steri-Strip® provides a germ free barrier between the shopping cart handle and you or your family and is FDA Approved and Toxin Free!"

So I tried these out:  First, let me say they were MUCH better than the dried out (or empty) wipes bucket.  I was sent these directly from Kleen Grip so I didn't take them from a vending machine -but they retained their stickiness through the mail but were not so sticky as to leave a redisue on me!  They covered the handle almost 100%

PLUS the coupons were AMAZING.  It is VERY rare to find a Harris Teeter store coupon, especially for a store brand!  I LOVED these coupons- the ones I was given expire 3.15 and were good for: olive oil, Spa Select Entree, Fat Free Frozen Yogurt, Spring Salad Mix, Golden Wheat Crackers, HT soda, HT sliced cheese, HT trail mix, HT cookies, HT cereal.

When you are at check out, you can just peel the ones you want to use off.  They come off very easily and if you go slowly they will not tear off any of the other ones.  PLUS you can remove the entire strip if you don't use them on THAT trip and the next time you go you will get a new one PLUS still have those coupons!

I used the frozen yogurt coupon in the Triad (NC) area.  Although they are not being tested at my store, they scanned perfectly!  They DO NOT double- but that is expected!  I got this for .99!

Okay so WHY am I blogging about this?  Several reasons (in no particular order)- First- email, call or write on Harris Teeter's Facebook page that you want these in ALL stores- (no offense Charlotte area readers) but why are people in Charlotteso special?  I'd like to be sure that there is no e.coli on MY shopping cart at MY Harris Teeter (don't believe me?  read here: MSNBC.com) or at whatever grocery store you shop at.  Secondly, this company is local to me and local = better (they are in Mooresville, NC).  Third, COUPONS are awesome and the more coupons we get the more money we can possibly save!  Finally, it keep our hands clean and that makes us healthier and that makes us happier.
