Sunday Shopping Plans

Ok this week here are my plan totals:
Value: 117.82
OOP: $1.72
Rewards: 17.98 RR, 6 Mail in Rebates, 15 UP+, 4 SCR and 15 ECB
That is a 99% savings NOT including rebates or rewards!

Add those in and I get a $56.26 PROFIT.  WOWZA

Here are my plans.  Many of these coupons I printed a long time ago or they were mailed to me- so use a coupon database (such as this one at My Coupon Teacher to search for the ones you want.  I am also using my Rite Aid $20 Holiday gift of savings certificate.  Mostly because if I do not use it now, I will forget it!

UPDATE again P&G Harris Teeter deal

After VIC discounts are deducted for the products shown in the ad, the total must be $40 or greater. Coupons do not reduce the $40 requirement. When the $40 criteria is met for the qualifying products, $10 will come off of your next order automatically when you spend more than $10. There is a limit of one $40 qualification each day.

HT P&G deal update

Some product UPCs were mistakenly omitted from the promotion and therefore credit was not earned. Our IT department is correcting this and tomorrow the customers who met the $40 requirement by purchasing the products shown in the ad will have the credit added to their VIC card. We apologize for the error.

It seems that it is AFTER Vic but before coupons (I think)......we'll see!!

Harris Teeter P&G deal update

It appears that the ad isn't quite the way it seems.  The HT ad offers a $10 coupon if you buy $40 worth of P&G products. The ad specificially says that the total is calculated AFTER VIC discounts.

I bought over $45 worth plus some other items and my coupon did not print (of course I used coupons).  The store manager gave me $10 cash in lieu of the coupon.

I went home and scrutinized the receipt and saw it says at the bottom "PG points : $15 towards $40 required" WHAT?  My total for the P&G products was WAY more than $15 even after the coupons!  Not sure what is going on but I have contacted them to see if we can get an answer.

18 bottles of formula for $7.74!!

Had to share this picture sent to me by a MSM follower! These were bought using the Walgreens deal that is running this week for Similac B1G1 50% off.  Each bottle is about $5.  Using $3 off coupons combined with the deal, she got 18 bottles for $7.74!  That is 43 cents each with tax!  GREAT deal.  Of course, she had a lot of people print the coupons for her and she had been saving them up too.  But even so, 43 cents a bottle- even if you just got a few goes a long way to keeping baby and Momma happy!

CVS Holiday Pass

CVS has reopened their facebook holiday pass for 20% off. Hurry to their FaceBook Page to enter your card # and email!

What is Stockpiling and how to start

I've gotten a lot of questions lately about stockpiling (my method of couponing)- what is it, why do I do it and how expensive is it to start?

What is Stockpiling?

Stockpiling is the method I use when shopping.  If something is super cheap or free, I get as many as I have coupons for.  Instead of a grocery list that includes ingredients for each meal for the week, I will get everything I can that is cheap or free plus the items I need right then.  This way, I don't ever have to actually buy pasta at 2.39 a box or cheese at 3.29 a bag.  I might pay 10 cents for the pasta and 25 cents for the cheese.  But I might buy 10 boxes of the pasta and 5 bags of cheese.  Then I freeze the cheese and put the pasta on the shelves of my pantry.

Why do I do it?
I do this because I want to maximize my savings and avoid paying retail prices for items I can (or could have) gotten at rock bottom prices.  Stockpiling also allows me to cook virtually anything I want any day of the week.  I will always have pasta, cheese, vegetables, canned items, sauces, taco seasoning, or 90% of anything else we eat on a regular basis.  I don't have to worry about running out of something or not having something I need.  But the main reason is that this is the way I have found to spend the least and get the most.

How do I start?

First thing to know: Stockpiling is hard if you are hard-core brand loyal. BUT it can still be useful.
Getting started might take some time.  If you already have been saving up coupon inserts- that is GREAT! If not, start now.  I get 1 paper delivered to my house each week and if there are inserts I pick up between 3 and 5 more (depending on what is in the inserts).  This is not necessary but if you just have 1 coupon then you can only get 1 of that item.  You don't even have to pay for the paper- just ask friends and family who get the paper but don't use the coupons (GASP!) if you can have the inserts.

So, now you have the inserts what do you do?  Well, as soon as possible each week I list here on Moola Saving Mom, the best deals I have found at Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter.  Use this list to see if there is anything you use on a regular basis OR anything that is absolutely free.  Even if you won't use the item, grab the free things.  You can always give them away to a food bank OR you might find a use for them (like croutons- we don't eat them with salads but they make GREAT coating for fried chicken or crushed up for topping a macaroni and cheese),

Try and par down your regular list as much as possible to make monetary room for the stock pile items. For example if you wanted some pasta but didn't absolutely NEED it- wait until you can get it super cheap or free.  Cook something else.

You will start to accumulate shelf stable (pasta, flour, dinner kits) and frozen items (freeze cheese, milk, meats, etc).  Then you won't have to pay full price for these items any more and only buy them when they are on sale!

Using my spreadsheet ("like" Moola Saving mom on Facebook and email her at moolasavingmom@yahoo.com with your FB name to get it emailed to you) will show you the actual cost after coupons!

Somethings you can't help but pay the price on the tag; fresh fruit, veggies, sometimes meat.  BUT your other savings will offset these costs.  In the summer, you can have a garden (even if small) to have your own homegrown veggies.

What if I don't have any coupons yet?
You can still start stockpiling as you start collecting coupons.  First, ask anyone if they have the papers but don't want the coupons.  There are TONS of people that haven't caught onto couponing (HEY- you used to be one right?) If not, there are still a ton of printable coupons that will get you started.

Next post will be about where to get coupons

Free Spreedsheet for Couponing

Here is how to get a Moola Saving Mom Coupon Helper Spreadsheet:

1. "LIKE" us on

2. Come back here to Moola Saving Mom and email us (moolasavingmom@yahoo.com)!  Be sure to give us your Face Book Name!

3. As soon as humanly possible we will reply with an attachment of the spreadsheet and directions on using it.  It can be used at Lowes Foods or Harris Teeter.  Shortly in the future there will be another give away for drug store spreadsheets.

WHY do you NEED this spreadsheet?

1.  It is impossible to coupon shop as effectively as possible if you are standing in the aisle trying to calculate a final price and savings.  It is MUCH better to do it at home and have a list when you go into the store.

2.  This list does doubles, super doubles and triples for you!  It gives you a final price and you can actually SEE the amount you will be spending.  Is it perfect? NO- but it is a GREAT head start!

Why it's great to sign up...

for LOTS of things.

In my inbox yesterday there were 2 wonderful emails!

The first email was from CVS.  It was a survey invitation.  For completeing the 5 minute survey about my spice buying habits (LOL) I got a $5 ECB reward!  YAY.

The second email was from Build-a-Bear (my 7 year olds obsession).  It was a $10 gift certificiate.  No minimum purchase, no strings!  YEP.  That made her day.

This is why I sign up for everything and anything online from REPUTABLE companies.  You never know what their next marketing campaign might include for you!
