Why I am crying today

There will be a PSA at the end of this post....but first here is why:

We have a deep freezer in the basement.  I use it to store my "overflow" from my regular freezer in the kitchen.  Luckily, we store most of the meat in the upstairs freezer.  This deep freezer was FULL (to the TOP) of green giant veggies, Kraft cheese, a few gallons of milk, some frozen meals, etc.....

We had been working in the garage and somehow (I take responsibility for this- I should have checked it when we were done) it got unplugged!!!!!  This was a week ago and I go into the garage today to get some popsicles for the kids to find them mostly melted!  I look down and ALL of the top is defrosted.  My bags of bread dough are all thawed out!

Out of the ENTIRE freezer I was comfortable salvaging 1 frozen chicken and two gallons of milk (still COMPLETELY frozen).  One package of chicken will be cooked tonight.  The rest:
So my PSA is : PLEASE check for deep freezers, especially if you don't use it everyday.  Otherwise, you might be crying like I am.  My only consolation is that I am SUCH a frugal shopper that it wasn't a TON of cash in the trash- but the value?  A LOT.
