My shopping trips today

This morning I went to Walgreens, CVS and Kohls.

Kohls has been emailing me $10 "We've remodeled our store" gifts almost every week for months!  I received one of those and TWO $5 gifts!  This is what I got (3 transactions)

Total Value: $52.09
total OOP: $1.23
Total Savings: 97.65

I got: 3 pairs youth flip flops, 1 pair pantyhouse, 1 headband, 1 t-shirt for $1.23!!!

At Walgreens I had some issues.  First, the manager refused to accept my $1 off the Icy Hot because it was on sale for .99.  He told me that it was coupon fraud!!  I simply explained I did not want that penny back and they could adjust the coupon to accept it for .99.  He refused again.  Instead of arguing with him, I took those items off my order and went to the parking lot to see if their customer service was open.

their Policy is pretty explicit.  Here is the quote the customer service agent gave me :
In the event that any item's selling price is less than the value of the coupon, Walgreens will only accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of the item. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons.

She said the manager was incorrect and sent it on to be investigated.  I REALLY wanted that icy hot since my husband goes through it like water!  So I went back in and asked to see a copy of their coupon policy (oh surprise surprise- they don't know where it is!) After talking to the manager, he accepted my coupons would limited my order to 3 (I had 5 coupons and there were at least 10 on the shelf).

This was my total order:

Total Value: $49.32
Total OOP: $3.40
Total Savings: 93.1%
Rewards bacK: $11.97 worth of RR!!!! That's great!

CVS did not go as planned :(  But I rolled with it because we needed Toilet paper (think 3 young kids + lots of playing in the bathroom!)

Total Value: $42.28
OOP: $9.28
Savings: 78% (def. NOT my best trip to CVS)
I got back $8 in ECB

Totals for the day:
Value: $143.69
OOP: $13.91
Savings: 90.3%
Rewards back: $19.97

How did you do this week?

  1. I hit cvs as well and I had a "special" cashier. Long story short and 30 mins later I spent $9.19 and received back $9.99 in ECB. That's with buying pampers, wipes, 2 pantenes, I bought 1 of the prep H. to put in my donation box thinking someone may need it. The oral B toothbrush and 2 M&M's.
